What Happened To The 5-Fold Ministers?

May 14, 2009 at 2:08 pm Posted in Discipleship

Hey Pastor, your main job is not to preach.  It is not to teach.  It is not to lead a church.  It is not to counsel.  It is not to set budgets.  It is not to pray.  It is not to study.

As a Christian, and more specifically as a Christian leader you are to do all those things.  But none of those are your Scripturally mandated purpose for being sent to the Church.

Eph 4: And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…

If Jesus has actually sent you as a minister to the church than your primary job is to equip saints to minister.  Your secondary job is to build up the body of Christ. The primary job is supported by the secondary job. In churches today we see a 95% focus on the secondary job and leave it to seminaries to do our primary job.

What happened?

We need to refocus our attention to what we are supposed to be doing.

At The Mission we are refocusing our efforts to equip our people to be the Spirit-empowered ministers the world desperately needs.

Come and join us!
