Vision

July 8, 2009 at 10:04 am Posted in Discipleship

We have all heard how important it is to have a vision for your ministry or business.  But what most people really mean is that you have to have guiding principals and an ambition for your ministry or business.  Once you have this you must indoctrinate those who join the organization into the “vision.”

Scripture shows us that this is a dangerous practice.  The Bible tells us “Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”  When everything is tested with fire, I would rather have a small work stand then a large work consumed.

Jacob received a vision from God in the middle of nowhere and it guided his life.  That work stands to this day.  This pattern is repeated throughout Scripture.  God speaks to man.  Man gets involved in what God has revealed.  The Kingdom goes forth.

The Mission was birthed out of a vision God gave me.  Time and again I have to make decisions counter to conventional wisdom to guard that vision.  This work will be tested by fire and I want it to stand.  But now I am taking it a step beyond that.

I am asking the Lord to give me a vision for my marriage and my family.  Those that know me know that I married my wife on God’s instruction.  We had Isaac at His instruction.  But the vision does not end there.  I want to know where God is leading us and I want to be sure I am on His path.

Not to seek Him in these things is just the plans of man.
