The Political Church

I am not going to get too deep into this but I am grieved time and time again as I have watched the Church surrender its moral authority to political agendas.

The prophet Martin Luther King was gunned down when his ministry shifted from a social cause to an economic one.  I am not saying God was behind it, I am just pointing out a fact.  The Democrats lost their moral authority  when the aim moved from equality to public housing and affirmative action.

I posted a public lament at the death of the family values mantra when the McCain/Palin ticket was nominated.  I was lambasted for speaking against the Republican anointed but I was not saved by the spirit of politics but the Spirit of Truth.  God has been slowly uncovering a whole generation of Republican politicians as corrupt.  This is Him showing mercy on the Church but sadly much of the Church does not seem to want God, they want a political king.

Let me make this as plain as possible.  If you think one party in America is the party of God you are in error.  If you are a shepherd and you speak spitefully against our elected officials you will see the full fruit of that rebellion in your ministry.  Do not be surprised when your people no longer feel the need to submit to your authority.  This is simple seed time and harvest.

I am alarmed by the socialization of the markets after the financial collapse.  I am fully pro-life, before and after birth. I am against same sex marriage.  I am against prayer in schools.  I do not want a muslim, buddist, jehovah’s witness, or any other non-believer leading my children to pray.  My wife and I will do that, thanks. The people who bemoan taking prayer out of schools are the same people that bemoan teaching yoga in schools.  You cant have it both ways.

I often listen to Christian radio and have a few questions.  When did carbon emissions become a christian issue?  When did health insurance become a matter for the church to weigh in on?  When did not taking in immigrants become a Christian viewpoint?  When did secret spying programs and torture become something the Church supports?  Have you seen what happens to governments that allow secret spying programs and torture?  They spy on and torture Christians!

Wake up church!  Your lust for power is a ploy from the devil.  If only some real prophets would stand up and take the Church to task we could actually have revival in this country.  But I am afraid this will not happen until this country is forced to, and biblically that is not a pretty sight.
