Sea Turtle Spotting

September 26, 2009 at 8:21 pm Posted in Misc

Sea TurtleThe Thomas family started the day with a little breakfast at the beach.  I have been really busy with The Mission and Saturday is normally an even busier day with church preparations, so Tracey and I wanted to make sure and do something fun with the kids to start the day.

We stopped by the neighborhood Dunkin Donuts for the tasty meal and got to the beach by quarter after 9.  The sun was already blazing!

While we were walking down to the water I spotted what looked like a baby turtle.  I thought it would be all dried up so I have it a nudge.  To my surprise it started to move!

IMG00165I know it is a felony to mess with one of these things so I called Mr. Lifeguard over and let him go afoul of the feds.

Mr. Lifeguard got a bucket, put some sand and water in it and called some folks from Gumbo Limbo who raise these things till they are old enough to make it. He said the yolk sack was still attached and he would become instant lunch for some fist.

Either way, it was a really cool way to start the weekend.
