New Testament Ministry

October 27, 2009 at 11:14 am Posted in Discipleship

I often have a feel for what God wants to accomplish in the service before I get in the pulpit. Many times the way God gives me a message is He first shows me a vision of the altar call. After that I have to work my way backwards to the word that leads up to it are obligated to you but it makes perfect sense to me I am kind of a logical guy in building the premise of the message toward the conclusion of the altar call makes perfect sense to me I appreciate that God can talk to me in a way I understand.

However there are other times that I don’t have any idea how God is going to complete what he wants to accomplish in the service this past week was one such week.

I knew what God wanted to minister. I had a message that I felt came from God yet and still I had no idea how I was going to tie the two together.

So I found my message almost complete at 20 minutes I was a little concerned. However I soon realized that that was God’s plan. He wanted me to preach for a little and minister for a while. He did not want another service based on the intellect; he wanted to minister to the hearts of people.

So I preached my little message, prophesied the goodness of God over the people, and the Holy Spirit went to work.

Preachers, it’s important that you remember that you are working on behalf of God and not the other way around. God may or may not use you in the service. It’s important that you remember He is in control. It’s important that you remember that He is the greatest minister there is. He may use you to minister the Word, he may use the worship to minister, He may use the testimonies to minister, he may use you in the laying on of hands, or He may just choose to minister himself.

Before you ever take the pulpit and assume a ministry it is vital that you are able to hear and take directions from God on how he wants to minister. This is what is called New Testament ministry.
