Monday Morning Musings (Barbque Edition)

July 6, 2009 at 10:35 am Posted in The Mission
  • That was one long day!
  • Favorite photo of the day ———–>
Last year I had to work the grill.  This year the Lord provided the barbcue mastery of Bryan and Lucas.
  • Woke up early to get in the Word and seek God.
  • Quickly realized I would be spending my morning loading the van with the stuff for the Barbcue
  • I have spelled BBQ about 4 different ways in various publications
  • We had a record crowd today.  Lots of new faces
  • God told me to preach the vision.  So I shared some of my testimony and some of the vision for The Mission
  • I don’t always understand why God tells me to do certain things but understanding is not my God.  He talks I obey.
  • Say a dude I have not seen in a few years.  I gotta say, he has looked better.  But I have recently been praying for him so it was cool to see him pop up in church.  I am praying that God does amazing things in his life.
  • If you were not in service, listen to the podcast.  I kept an amazing testimony from the service at the beginning.  It was one of three or four that was shared before service.
  • We had a major malfunction with a slide show from the baptism.  Instead of getting all mad and talking bad about people or acting like it did not mess us, I just got in from of the crowd, had them restart the video, and play different music.  I told the people to act like they did not see it before and cheer when they see themselves getting baptized.  The people laughed and cheered.
  • Sometimes you can’t take things too seriously.  If you are looking for a church run like a hollywood musical, you have come to the wrong place.
  • At the same time, I take full blame for the mistake.  We needed to test that before the service and I approved something during worship that had not been practiced.  It did not work.  My bad.  Should not happen again.
  • More on this later
  • Prayed for some people to get healed.  Not something that could be instantly checked
  • Immediately went to the Barbcue to find that it had been setup and was running without my assistance!
  • That might have been the highlight of my day.  Knowing that I am not needed for everything to work.
  • Possibly funniest line of the day, “I had never been to this park before so I had no idea how far the parking lot was from the pavilions.  After the first case of soda I said to myself, ‘I should have gotten more helpers’” Wesley Barbosa.
  • Wes and Chris were the unsung heroes of the day.  They missed service and lugged all the stuff then made three trips for ice.
  • It might have been the hottest day I have spent outside in a very long time.
  • Thanks to Theresa and Luceni for setting up the food.
  • Special shout out to Bryan and Lucas for working the hot grills in an even hotter day
  • We had over 70 folks show up for the event (We don’t have a really accurate count.  We don’t really excel in that area)
  • Podcast and pix are up
  • Really like the cool people God is adding to The Mission.  I feel like I am living in a dream . . . But dreams aren’t quite the much work.
