Jan 1, 2010 . . . Everything is the Same

January 1, 2010 at 9:55 am Posted in The Mission

We like to say that the new year means a new start but we know that is not true.  If you were a lousy student, a lousy parent, a lousy employee, a lousy spouse, or a lousy christian, nothing has changed.  Your bills did not go away.

Your problems did not disappear.  The seed you sowed in 2009 and before is still going to bring a harvest.

But here is the good news.

You can make a decision today to change all of those things.  You can decide that you are not going to continue those patterns in your life in 2010.

You can choose to walk in forgiveness.  You can choose to be responsible.  You can choose to love.

This Sunday at The Mission we are going to have a special offering where we offer to God everything we want to leave in 2009.  Some may bring in jewelry from past relationships that they need to let go of.   Some may bring in things that have become idols in their lives.  Some may want to break the curse of poverty by bringing in your tithe.

Some people need to bring that video game God has been telling you to let go.  And others need to bring in that outfit you know you aren’t supposed to be wearing.  The Holy Ghost is showing me at least one person who needs to bring in a picture of a person you are supposed to release.  Is it possible there is someone with a fake ID they need to surrender?

I know there is more but you get the idea.

Today, make hard decisions to follow God.  See what is standing between you and that decision.  Give it to God.
