Guard Your Reputation
A funny thing happens after a person falls. Once they repent God instantly forgives them. But their position among men is not easily restored. There are lots of reasons why that should and should not happen but the fact of the matter is that once your reputation is tarnished, it takes time to get it back.
The Bible says that a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches. Why? Because your good name gives you credibility. When you lend your name to something it takes on your reputation.
If you are on a ministry team and everyone knows you are in sin, people no longer respect the team. Even those who are walking with God are no longer trusted because the people know the team is not practicing what they preach.
People say that if you worry what people think about you it is pride. But I would say that having a goal to be seen as a righteous person is a godly pursuit if your goal is to use your influence to draw people closer to God.
In 2010, seek to be a person of godly influence.
So much truth in that.
