Built to Last – Jim Collins, Jerry Porras
Ok, so 
Built to Last by Jim Collins, Jerry Porras is not a new book. It was originally published in 94 but it was still a great read.
I have not read an entire leadership book ever (save how to win friends and influence people when I was 14. It did not stick.). I have tried to read a few leadership books by the well known Christian authors to limited success. And I have never read a business book. My only exposure to business is my intor to management course in college. I guess I get the majority of my management training by reading blogs.
That being said I found this book fascinating. It details the divergent paths taken by companies that are operating for something greater than profits in the long run.
I am not in business. I am in ministry. There should not be anyone in ministry that is in it for any other reason then the growth of the Kingdom and the glory of Jesus. If your ministry is not visionary in nature then you may not have been called.
This past week I was lead by the Lord to share again the vision of The Mission. We are not here to be the latest and greatest church in South Florida. We are called to fulfill the vision God has given us.
This book shows the power of not only having that vision but effectively communicating it with the people who are supposed to be working toward fulfilling it.
